About Melissa

I remember learning to crochet as a pre-teen, sitting with my mom as she taught me how to make a slipknot repeatedly.  Crochet has always been a hobby that I was curious about.  Every few years I would pick up a hook and try to make something - usually a large, time-consuming item like a blanket - and invariably end up quitting because it was too much of a commitment.

After going through a rocky divorce in 2021, I began a journey of exploring who I was.  One night, I stumbled onto a TikTok video (doesn't every story start this way, nowadays?!), I saw someone who made the cutest crocheted giraffe and my curiosity was sparked once more.

Amigurumi (the Japanese art of crocheting or knitting plushies) quickly became the thing I looked forward to at the end of each day.  I could enjoy my time with the crochet hook but not feel overwhelmed with the intensity of the project!

I've fallen so in love with this passion-filled hobby, and also with each little plushie that I make.  They each have their own unique personality, just like you and me.

And for what it's worth, I've still never actually finished making a blanket.

My favorite creation

My African flower triceratops is easily my favorite plushie I’ve made to date. When I began this project, I didn’t have much faith in my abilities as a crochet artist. As each piece was finished and she started to take shape, it taught me to be more confident in my true ability as a crochet artist. This beautiful creation is a constant reminder that I shouldn’t doubt myself or my abilities.
